This is image_2
of a series of 7 taken same day

This dataset from Ron Abileah is comprised of
  • WV2 8-bands image, 9721*9721 pixels, rotated by 90 ° (????????)
  • WV2 8-bands images decluttered by Ron
  • SHOALS depth in centimeters  -  this is the depths from the SHOALS LIDAR re-sampled to the image pixels.

Pollution

Zlidar is used for water column correction
TCC bands 2, 3 and 4

Pollution

This water column corrected TCC view
highlights the "polluted" areas

LB = Lsw + (Ls-Lsw)*exp(2K * Zlidar)
SHOALS depth is used in this computation

  • orange tones denote polluted areas:
    • in these areas, band_4 (and also band 5) glows 2-3 times brighter than bands 2 and 3
  • pollution originates from the outlet of Waimanalo Stream at beach level
    • could also be underwater springs
  • it extends far away far beyond an apparent "front"
    • Lm[4]=5: along this front, the radiance in band_4 is 5 DNs higher than the deep water radiance
  • it affects the gully, where depths reach in excess of 14 m
