tmnov tutorial : Calibration 1
Start tuning the calibration diagram

Work in progress

upgraded to 4SM.8.02
down to here

december 2017

Calibration 1 starts from the command line
formatted by the AutoCAL process
without KIKJregression
and modified for Lswnir and GlintM
Conclusion: the following applies
  • Glintm=Lswnir=2.9
  • GlintM=10.0 over the whole image
    • to preclude heavy damages at very shallow locations
  • GlintM=19.0 on a local basis
    • haze, clouds

  • Please enable   .../BdSNpZg/... in order to display the Z2 vs Z3 inserts

  • Water type OII+0.086
  • Kblue/Kgreen~=0.52 quite neat
  • an odd "bump" around 1.2 m
  • LsM badly needs attention, starting with LsMNIR
  • Z2 vs Z3 inserts are a good indicator of misfit parameters
  • calibration strategy : we shall proceed step by step
    • correct LsM
    • are wavelengths OK?
    • are Lsw values OK?
    • are Lw values OK?
    • what about that "bump"?
    • what value for RLBgb in -Z... argument?

we shall proceed step by step
  • correct LsM
  • are wavelengths OK?
  • are LsM OK: increase
  • deglint/no_deglint
  • ghost BPL
  • bi-dimensional histograms
  • calibration under a mask

Correct LsM

First get LsMnir  straight
  • This was a bad case (AutoCAL knows better at present):
  • Z3 is underestimated by ~0.2 m
    • therefore, LsMred needs to be increase
  • Decreasing LsMnir  would not help much,
    • as Kred is 5.3 times lower than Knir
  • Increasing LsMred by ~20 does the trick,
    • as Kred is 5.3 times lower than Knir
  • see the result : How nice!
First get LsMnir  straight
  • Ours is a nice case : AutoCAL knows better at present
  • Nothing to do at this stage!
  • Suppose that Knir=4.5 m-1 is correct,
    • then  Kred=0.853 m-1 is also correct
