Coastal 5 waters yield to Coastal 3
  • Where silty Mississipi waters meet dead Everglades waters
  • Call it a "worst case scenario"
  • Green and Blue bands are moody
  • Deep water reflectance appears to increase markedly from water line outwards: in 4SM, I have no way to account for that
  • Water volume reflectanve Lw in the Blue-green bands could not be not properly estimated
  • I failed to model deeper than ~6-7 m where only bands 1, 2 and 3 exhibit bottom detection: there is no suitable color separation between the Green band and the two blue bands in these Coastal waters
  • The water column corrected images are not correct, due to the above uncertainties on Lsw and Lw calues in the blue-green range

Multi 8 bands file
  • 3.8 GB the files is too big: OpenEV cannot handle it
  • probably because of the 4 GB RAM limit on my 32 bits machine
Panchromatic band file
  • the file is too big: OpenEV cannot handle them for exporting to PCIDSK format
    • PrincessCays Pan band is 2.8 GB, Florida Pan band is even bigger
  • probably because of the 4 GB RAM access limit on my 32 bits machine
Resampled
  • For me to use the Panchro data as a complementary band,
  • I need the Panchro image resampled at 2 m resolution
  • and cut so that it strictly overlays the Multi bands
I have great expectations re: the Panchro band
  • it should allow me to extend the modeling beyond the band 4 depth limit at FloridaWestCoast
FILE interleaved PCIDSK format, compressed
  • first thing I do is export from GEOTIF format to PCIDSK format for read-write activities
  • I do that regularly with Landsat images from USGS/Glovis
  • OpenEV reads either BAND or FILE interleaved PCIDSK format,
    • but only writes BAND interleaveved PCIDSK format: Ican't handle a file that's too big on my machine
  • This is why 4SM uses the FILE interleaved PCIDSK format,
    • as, among other things, it allows to handle very large datasets
So
1) In order to counter the file size limit, and also for convenience, I would not mind downloading the MULTI data
  • either in FILE interleaved PCIDSK format, together with usual metadata, and compressed
  • or in one GEOTIF per band format, together with usual metadata, and compressed
2) If at all possible, and for 4SM use, any PAN image should be resampled to 2 m resolution, and cut to overlay exactly the MULTI data

3) For convenience, any seatruth DTM should be formated same as PAN, resampled at same ground resolution, even though it might not cover the whole rectangular shape

4 ) 4SM read/write U8, U16, S16 and R32 data
