LANDSAT 8 OLIP
use a LUT in 4SM to map the diffuse attenuation coefficient Kd
work done in 2021 at 15 m GSD

Using the Panchromatic band for water column correction
to derive water depth and spectral bottom signature:

Landsat 8 OLIP bandset used for this work

Purple=1Blue=2Green=3PAN=4Red=5NIR=6 and SWIR1=7

TCC deglinted BOA

Glint regressions, based on SWIR band 7,

Green band, BOA deglinted

Blue band, BOA deglinted

Optical calibration confirms LUT mapping results

Map of K2/K3 on reef flat:
how surprising

Map of K2/K3 on mangrove/river discharge:
coastal waters as expected

How weird
OIII water type on the reef flat
  • 1-5 m: Kblue~=Kgreen: K2/K3=0.9
  • reef crest covered by 1 m of water
This is demonstrated
and confirms the above LUT mapping result

Quite interesting
Coastal waters along the coast
  • 0-4 m: Kblue>>Kgreen: K2/K3~1.3
    • that is Coastal C5 water type
  • >4 m:  Kblue~=Kgreen: K2/K3~0.9
    • that is Coastal C1 water type
