• We had to offset the ALI image by 90 m in X and 960 m in Y in order co co-register the ALI image with the HYPERION image
  • The calibration of the ALI image uses only the the footprint of the HYPERION image
  • The bottom typing training sites used for the HYPERION image were also used unchanged for the ALI image

Blue watersAverage depth at training sites
  •  each training site is comprised of 50 to 200 pixels
  • ALI calibration yields slightly under-estimated depths in comparison with HYPERION calibration
  • Deeper than ~3-5 m, ALI depths are based on the green band
  • Band 1 at 443 nm is a most valuable addition to the ETM BGRNir bandset
    • a yellow band at ~600 nm would be valuable too
 

Pre-processing
  • For marine applications, the four stripes of the ALI image should be balanced by the pre-processing so that they are balanced over optically deep deep waters
